Dealers and folks dumping cards at low crazy prices vintage, vintage modern, junk wax, and newer cards.
Anybody else notice this?

Shows in my area are hit and miss on pricing. You have people asking for the moon while others are dumping. I have acquired the vast majority of my FST inventory off of people moving cards in bulk. I've learned to look for value boxes and or boxes of bulk and focus on these areas before heading for the showcases. For clarification I am not so much for the value/investment as am about acquiring cards that I need for my collection.

I went to 200 table show this past Saturday. It was very hit or miss. Some people were grossly overpriced. $5 for a 2023 Topps base Jordan Walker rookie is not a deal. I did find a few bargain boxes that had some nice deals. One dealer had a dime box loaded with colored parallels and numbered cards. Spent a good portion of my budget with him.
With regards to vintage, I did not see much at this show. What was there looked to be priced about the same as recent shows I have been to. Most commons in good condition from the 1950s or 1960s would run between $2-4, although some dealers were giving bulk discounts.

Went to a show this weekend, mostly overpriced. Been working on the 1955 Bowman set and one dealer had commons at $12-15 dollars. Saw one dealer have a lot of 165 of the Bowman's in poor to VG and he wanted $600. Lots of Pokemon

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

definitely do not see dumping. some decent prices and some vintage at a bit of a markup. but it seems to vary dealer to dealer. they all have different styles but i am not seeing people dumping/offloading collections and cards.

I made it to a show this morning, and while I saw a few people marking down some product, the most visible discounts were on recent Panini boxes. I would have loved to find someone dumping vintage, though I’m pretty sure I might have missed the clues. The main thing I heard pretty consistently was people saying they were willing to work with buyers on price.

I've been to several shows recently in the Los Angeles area (including the bid Burbank Card Show last weekend) and have not seen dumping or lower-than-expected prices. Some are reasonable, some are unreasonably high, and there are always some modest bargains to be found, especially on cards for older players who aren't in high demand. I'm a Clemente collector, so very hard to find good discounts on his cards, unless they are in terrible condition.

Went to a relatively nearby but not 'local' show that I had not previously attended before today.
Crap it was depressing. Table after table of slabbed cards and hits. You want to drop $130 for a Tage Thompson auto? This is the place to be. Filled with 15 year old guys with lock cases trying to make deals. Felt way, way out of place.
Barely a box to browse, guys selling Topps flagship base in their 'bargain bin' for $2 each.
Think I really need to get my trade inventory uploaded and find some like minded folks to exchange with...

I'm finding prices all over the place as well. I picked up a Gary Carter rookie from a $1 box. I've been finding pre 1970 cards in bargain bins as well, including star players. Then I see cards way over priced. Cards that I would expect to find in a dollar bin are sitting there with $10+ price tags on them. Or junk era commons in dollar boxes. Sorry but a 1990 Melido Perez Donruss card isn't a $1 card.

I always figure it's hit or miss who is fireselling at an event depending on what their wife told them they could come home with that day.
