Technically, it was a team trying to lose. It was Petey betting on the fact that he thought his team would lose. No other Redleg was involved in the betting shenanigans.

More info on the Astros. Images and video of Altuve and Reddick, show both with something taped to their chests. An image of Reddick clearly shows a wire!
Very sad. I really liked this team and was glad for their series win. I hope if the Red sox did anything similar, they get punished hard!

Not sure if this relates to this situation, but Jack McDowell alleges the White Sox were sign-stealing under Tony La Russa.

Also this from the LA Times which points to the lack of credible news filters in our society.
It reminds me of a story from Texas politics involving Lyndon Johnson who put out a wild story about his opponent knowing it wasn't true, but wanting to take advantage of having the other guy defend himself against a lie.
My Astros were caught cheating, and were punished, and will have to deal with the peripheral ramifications for awhile, including the piling on by many who get thrills from things like this, much of it uncalled for and unsubstantiated rumors or outright lies. So be it, but I'm moving on and do not wish this on anyone's teams.

The problem isn't that haters are going to hate. The problem lies in that the MLBPA is protecting their cheating members and not their members in good standing (the players that were cheated on). The commisioner didn't name players in particular because he believed he would have a problem with MLBPA. If the players association would police their own correctly, the investigation would uncover alot more, and the real cheaters would be correctly repromanded.

The MLB and the PA have to get this under control, and fast.

Commish, I moved past it as soon as it came out. Cheating and bias in refereeing in all sports exists. The only difference between cases are some are exposed, some are exaggerated, and some remain covered up. Example a: Ben Johnson in the 100m race in the Olympics. He was caught; the USA runner was not but if you believe he didn't use steroids, sheesh! Example b: 1993 NHL playoffs semi-final LA (Gretzky) against the Leafs. The referee Fraser was staring right at the play when Gretzky high-sticked the Leaf yet chose not to make the call that would have meant ejection for Gretzky who then went on to score the series clinching goal.
Now Americans will deny my first claim and may even swear at me for insinuating such an unproven fact. LA fans will deny the second example even though the video is quite clear. I read and responded to a blog on the current baseball issue pointing out the extreme negative bias the writer had against the Astros. The blog must have been deleted as I could not find it again the next day to see if the blogger had responded to my comment. I guess in a way he did if he deleted his blog.
You are right in pointing out that this latest article is written by an LA reporter who not only writes in LA but was once tied to the Dodgers. A bit of bias one would think?
Even in this series of posts I am amazed at some of the vehement comments some members have made, obviously not Astros fans. For all, as someone once said, he who has not sinned should cast the first stone.
