I won't ride. I've tossed it around, but I simply don't trust other drivers on the road. But I also come from the background of my father being a paramedic in my pre-teen years. He used to work at the old Bryar Motorsport Park, now NH International Speedway and we'd spend the summer up there as he was part-owner of the company that supported the track. Back then it focused on motorcycle road racing, motorcross and short track. And plenty of Bike Weeks hanging out up there. My mom, a nurse, forbade my brother and I from learning despite the easy access. As a kid, when you watch someone take a corner way too quick, go over the handlebars, bounce off the cement and over the haybales and into the cement wall (this was the 80s after all), kind of chilling introduction.

Yes.
I like it and have had a couple bikes over the years. The last one I wrecked but luckily only ended up with a dislocated collar bone. I was wearing decent safety equipment: helmet, armored jacket, and gloves. It's been a few years, but I plan to get one again. I get the itch every spring. I do recommend taking a class if you've never ridden before. But after you do, if it brings you joy, go for it.

If you have deer or moose in your area then I wouldn't ride. Seems like you have a lot of good things going for you in life. Don't do it. Just my advice.
Riding is for outlaws and people who have nothing to lose and nothing to live for. Roughly speaking.

I took it up when I was 43 (I think, 4 years ago?) memories foggy on the date. I love it. Gets me out of the house, off of tech, just the bike and the wind and the road. For me, I'm mostly on back roads, just cruising with nowhere to go, or commuting (12 minutes).
I was given an '83 VF750C Magna then, so a similar bike to you. Might not hold up much longer, but I'm thinking of a newer replacement.
Don't be dumb, keep your emotions in check, stay alert, wear good equipment, keep your distance from all other vehicles. They look out for no one but themselves.

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

My best friend was clipped while riding his bike 8 years ago and the car drove away never to be seen again. He died 7 days later. Please don't ride.

My brother bought me a Harley 883 (their smallest) motorcycle. I enjoyed it, but never had that "safe" feeling while on it, even fully clad in leather and with helmet. Got rear-ended once. My wife said she didn't want me, herself, or our kids on it. I had it a couple or three years then traded it in on a car. It just wasn't for me.

It was interesting to read the varying responses. My wife is firmly in the camp of no motorcycles. So that makes me in the camp of no motorcycles. The problem is at some point in time I will be inherenting 4 absolutely beautiful Harly Davidsons from various eras. Sigh, maybe she will soften on the Trike my father has.

Was that on purpose? "Harley Davidson"; "...she will soften...". Is one of them a Harley Softail?
