2001 Ultra Baseball Forum

This is another example of checklist confusion. These 5 cards were issued in 2001 Fleer Platinum and they have been listed as an insert there.  It would make much more sense to list them with the Ultra checklist (as there is nothing on the card to indicate they shouldn't be considered part of the set), with an explanation and a link on the Platinum page.

The site doesn't differentiate between Series 1 and Series 2 in Topps flagship listings, for instance.

Admin has the capability to link inserts in one set to their associated base set.

They weren't inserted into any packs of 2001 Ultra, so they aren't listed there. Doesn't matter if it's a continuation of the checklist, same design, etc. That's how Admin wants it. That's why they're with the product where they actually appeared, Release Notes are up-to-date in both areas, and Admin has the ability to add a dropdown on the Ultra checklist to jump over to the insert in Platinum and vice versa.

Since anyone who stumbles upon these cards at a show or LCS might not know these were issued in 2001 Platinum, it's not that easy.  I think we'd all agree that what makes the most sense for the majority of users should be the rule of thumb.  The same applies to early 2000s Upper Deck cards that were issued in "Update" packs, but contain different brands.

An IR put in to link them together (unfortunately, only Admin can do this at this point) will do the trick - then they all coexist in one spot either by navigating to it through the packs they came in (in case someone is opening those packs still) or through the base set (as most probably would at this point).

This is also the case with ANY other "updates" you see along the way. There IS a fix for this. 

So many of these sets across all brands where this applies. I agree with your reasoning. Unfortunately I do not have the "in" to make reason the rule.
