Friday, February 15, 2008Rookie card of the longtime Minnesota Viking. Anthony Carter attended the University of Michigan and held every major receiving and returning record by the time he left. He first went to play in the USFL and caught the winning touchdown in the 1983 championship game. He later enjoyed many productive years in the NFL. |
Thursday, February 14, 2008Perhaps the greatest catcher ever, Yogi Berra played in 15 All-Star games, was named the AL MVP 3 times, won 10 World Series Championships as a player and another 3 as a coach. Not too shabby. |
Wednesday, February 13, 2008This was the first widely distributed Michael Jordan card. It's also one of the most counterfeited cards and was actually named #1 this month in Beckett magazine in their list of the 50 Greatest Basketball Cards of All Time. |
Tuesday, February 12, 2008Joe Perry was the first running back in the NFL to rush for back-to-back thousand yard seasons. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1969. |
Monday, February 11, 2008Not the best picture of Joe Montana. He looks like he has indigestion. We’ll spare you the joke about eating up defenses. 4-time Super Bowl winner, 3-time Super Bowl MVP, perhaps the best ever. |
Sunday, February 10, 2008Heisman trophy winner, 1st overall pick, NFL Rookie of the Year, Jim Plunkett started off his NFL career with lots of promise, but injuries and interceptions later, he found himself as a backup in Oakland. Then the starter got hurt and Plunkett led the Raiders all the way to a Super Bowl victory, picking up MVP honors. After becoming a backup again, another injury to another starter had him taking the Raiders to another Super Bowl victory in 1983. |
Saturday, February 9, 2008Andre Reed played 15 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, going to seven Pro Bowls, and was an instrumental part of the Bills teams that appeared in four straight Super Bowls. Although he's been eligible for the Hall of Fame, he's yet to make it, but will undoubtedly be selected one day as his numbers are better than Michael Irvin, who was recently inducted. |
