I apologize if this is silly. I’m a longtime collector, but I’ve only recently became involved in the community. I’m sorry if I’m in the wrong place for these kinds of questions.
I have been going through my collection and I’ve come across a very interesting error card, and I’m not finding it here or elsewhere.
The front is a 1998 Donruss Mark McGwire “Donruss MVP” and the back is a 1998 Donruss Andre Dawson “Donruss Diamond King.” While I’ve oriented the text so it’s readable here, on the card it is printed upside down, 180 degrees from the orientation of the picture of McGwire on the front. I’ve verified it’s not two cards stuck together or anything silly like that.
I guess my question is related to how rare this might be. Is this a known thing and I’m just missing it in my search here and elsewhere because I’m a bit of a newbie, or have I stumbled onto something rare and cool?
Thanks in advance!

I'd say for Donruss it is pretty rare. For Topps, wrong backs are a dime a dozen, and Fleer had a weird spate of them in 1991, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a wrong back from Donruss before.

Well, let me backtrack a little, there were like 4 or 5 of them in 1990 Donruss, but they were very specific around the All Star cards and the Nolan Ryan King of Kings/5000Ks cards. But those seemed to be a mistake in the layout, not a swapping of backs for a whole sheet, which is how wrong backs usually occur.

Cool. It’s fun to have something unique and weird like this.

If the back is upside down, then what happened was a sheet got fed the wrong way for either the front after the back was printed or the back after the front was printed (not sure the order Donruss' printers did their sheets). And this is what is known as a "wrong back", and they are not listed here (or any other major hobby checklist site).

Thanks, Dan. That’s pretty interesting! I’m imagining the new guy trying to get away with a mistake on the line or maybe not even realizing he screwed up.

Welcome fellow Cleveland collector! I, too, have the Mark Price bug. I live in Detroit now, but I won't give up my Browns, Guardians, and Cavs.
