NEW AS OF 11/16/2023
Art Parisien - QB
College: Notre Dame 1925-1926, Boston University 1927

HEADLINE: Parisien’s Port Sided Passes Defeat Trojans, 13-12 in 1926

Late in the very first ever USC-ND game-in the LA Coliseum....USC was leading 12-7

Rockne inserted 5'6 left handed QB Art Parisien. Parsien drove ND down the field (60yds in 6 plays) hitting HB John Niemiec with a 23 yd game winning td pass with less than a minute left.

Parisien never threw another pass for Notre Dame. Art transferred to Boston U after the semester.

FYI Another player appearing in his final game that afternoon in the Coliseum was Trojan tackle Marion Morrison #24. Morrison quit school soon after the ND game, took up acting, & changed his name to John Wayne.

There is a 1926 Notre Dame Postcard #7 with Charlie Riley/Vince McNally/Art Parisien/Joe Maxwell/Charles Walsh from Oct.30 vs. Georgia Tech out there somewhere, someday.

Indiana QB 1950-1952

Lou received a football scholarship from Indiana University in the Big 10 where he quarterbacked for 3 years (freshman were not eligible to play back then). In his first start, Lou broke a Big 10 record with a 91 yard touchdown pass. He also set conference records for pass completions, passes attempted and total yards in a single game and in a season. Highlights of his sophomore season in 1950 included a 91 yard touchdown pass against Iowa, a record setting 20 completions against Ohio State, and a 20-7 triumph over a Notre Dame team that included his high school teammate, Bucky Mutscheller, the first Hoosier win over the Irish in 44 years. Injuries plagued Lou his junior year, but he had a fine senior season in 1952 and he played in the Blue-Gray Game.

60. 1983 Sunbeam Bread LSU Tigers #13 Mike Hillman

LSU QB 1967-1969

He began his legendary status at Louisiana State University (LSU) on a football scholarship in 1965. He was LSU’s first left-landed quarterback and is considered one of the top ten quarterbacks in the university’s history. Mike, “#13”, made an indelible impact on his team, culminating in 1968 by being named Offensive MVP for the first Peach Bowl in Atlanta, GA, and then LSU Offensive MVP in 1969. After graduating from LSU in 1970, Mike’s future football career was unfortunately cut short due to knee injuries, and Coach McClendon named him a Graduate Assistant Coach for varsity quarterbacks.

Remembering non-QB players passing the ball is the easy part. Recalling (or finding out) if they're lefties is the hard part.

Sports Illustrated did an article on Vida Blue (7/12/1971) which said he had an uncle on his mother's side with the last name of Henderson who was a lefty QB at Grambling ... he's not in TCDB ... it'll take forever to find out his full name and the years he played, so I'll leave that task for someone else.

Sam McDowell's Dad, Tom,  played college QB for Pittsburgh according to Sam's 1972 Topps Boyhood Baseball Card, was Tom a lefty too?

There is a Tom / Thomas/ T H Mc Dowell listed on 1929 Roster and article mentions him as being on the 1930's teams

*******

Per the article below, Vida Blue as a senior in HS threw 17 TD passes to Hudson ... does NOT say that Hudson also played quarterback, but it's certainly plausible that he did.  It's really tough trying to find out stuff on Hudson via online searches.
