Set: 2009 TriStar Obak (Rate)

Card: #99 William Howard Taft

“ “If I twist my hand, my arm gets longer.” ” -Kirkland_347

“ Taft was the first president who embraced the automobile. He ordered the first four presidential automobiles as soon as he took office. At least one is still extant and was recently featured in Hemmings Classic Car. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ A fist bump from the President! ” -Gunny

“ I did a book report on him back in middle school! ” -carthage44

“ OH Cool a President on a retro card. However for some reason I am not a fan of Obak card designs. I don't know why. I think because the first time I saw one was on a blog of a blogger who mostly does a ton of customized cards and I thought they were customized cards. ” -captkirk42

“ I do not like this throwback card. ” -kirkscards

“ "Fist bump to all my homies on The Trading card Database"! ” -YoRicha

“ “I’m off to see the wizard. . . the wonderful wizard of oz.” ” -Kirkland_347

“ I would be impressed if the card was from 1909. Being it's from 2009 does nothing for me. ” -NJDevils

“ Not sure what it is, since I never heard of TriStar Obak and it says baseball. We need more really cool modern card sets commemorating things. This would be cool if it was a set of all presidents. ” -muskie027

“ I love it! First president to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game. Although it looks more like he could be punching somebody. Modern Obak really has some fun sets, though I own very few. ” -switzr1

“ I'd be into this card...if it were 50 to 100 years older. But still, nice enough. ” -Vvvergeer

Set: 2017 Panini Classics (Rate)

Card: #273 O.J. Howard

“ I believe all the base cards were printed on glossy stock, which was a change from the 2016 set. I think this was a mistake as it makes the cards feel too new and not "classic." Oh well, I still like the aesthetic that the set goes for. ” -ketchupman36

“ The backs are awful for a major company release. The front might be cool, but the effect is awful. Hopefully better in hand. Roll Tide! ” -muskie027

“ Really liked this set. ” -carthage44

“ What is that logo to the left of the NFL and NFLPA logos on the back of the card? Is the NCAA getting a licensing cut of this set? Or just 'Bama and the NFL? Or just the NFL? ” -kents_stuff

“ Even after taking into consideration the poor quality of the scan, and even after checking out other cards in this set, The front is atrocious with the "halo" around the player. I have no problem with the back. ” -NJDevils

“ I like college football cards. I don't like the Jedi glow around him. I also think it's odd that he is named O.J., and he was born in Novembver 1994, while O.J. Simpson was in jail awaiting trial. ” -switzr1

“ 2017 Classics Football Love it. Still don't like college uniform cards of draft guys or pros that don't say who they were drafted by. ” -captkirk42

“ Not to be confused with the other O.J. ” -Kirkland_347

Set: 2008 Upper Deck - 1969 O-Pee-Chee Reprints (Rate)

Card: #OPC-RB Ryan Braun

“ Gotta give UD credit for the gumption to use a Topps design via the O-Pee-Chee angle. But...it's not a reprint. This guy was in his second year in the league...to be a reprint he would have had to have been in the League in 1969, with a card in the original set. Proper names matter to me, even if they don't to Upper Deck! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Super bland. ” -carthage44

“ Ah, UD flipping Topps the bird by buying out OPC and being able to use the vintage designs. Not a bad front but the back is bland and not even close to accurate. Well, have to say 2018 Topps Heritage did it way better. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ Eerily similar to 1969 Topps...or 2018 Heritage...not a rip off AT ALL! ” -beansballcardblog

“ The only word that comes to mind is "blah". ” -kents_stuff

“ Why reprint something so bland? The actual 1969 OPC cards look so much better. ” -NJDevils

“ Pretty cool looking card. I love the 69 design. ” -parsley24

“ A bit of a stretch to call this a reprint. Especially the back; not even close. ” -C2Cigars

“ I feel like the O-Pee-Chee stuff works for Hockey better than baseball in the modern millennia. This card is ok. Almost has a minor league look to it. ” -muskie027

“ Love retro cards. They need to rethink the set title though, a newly made card using a vintage design is not a "reprint". ” -captkirk42

Set: 1993 Starlog: The Science Fiction Universe (Rate)

Card: #80 179 - June

“ Despite being a lifelong fan of science fiction, I think I've only got one or two issues of Starlog. This might be one of them, but it's packed in so deep storage that I have not seen any of them since about 1998. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Magazine cover? ” -carthage44

“ I used to really enjoy reading Starlog. This card wins all around. Starlog, Batman and puzzle back what a troika. ” -Gunny

“ Not a fan. ” -parsley24

“ What is this? ” -beansballcardblog

“ Oh its Starlog cards. I seem to recall hearing about this set commemorating the magazine and it's past covers. I did think it was a magazine cover and not a card at first glance. Hmm Puzzle back looks like something 2001ish or a Star Trek flick OH it's just a generic space scene painting. It helps when sets with puzzle pieces have a "full puzzle" card to show you the final image like Topps used to do in the 1970s and 80s. ” -captkirk42

“ No thanks. Not my thing. ” -switzr1

“ I never would have thought to make a card set that serves as an ad for back issues of a magazine, but that's the early-90s for you! ” -DanD

“ What is this? ” -muskie027

Set: 2009 Upper Deck 20th Anniversary (Rate)

Card: #922 Nomar Garciaparra

“ This is the largest set I know of...I have a card numbered in the 2200s. I love that. Big sets are better. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Mr. Mia Hamm! ” -royals

“ This was a bizarre set with its mix of sport and non-sport subjects and every photo duplicated on five different cards. The basic design is nice enough, I guess, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to collect the complete set. ” -bevans

“ While I enjoyed the concept of this set, like so many other Upper Deck projects, they just re-used the same photos over and over and over. ” -DaClyde

“ A massive set with 2,500 cards. ” -carthage44

“ This was a huge set, over 1000 cards. Luckily we got a sport card. I have several of these and the design is nice. Chasing this set would be a pain though. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ On of the rare times an athlete marries a better athlete than themselves. Pretty cool card, but dont know why this guy just disappeared. ” -parsley24

“ Ah the Upper Deck 20th Anniversary impossible to collect the entire set because it is over 1000 cards (2500 according to the checklist here on the DB). It is a nice looking set and covers just about anything and everything in the sports, entertainment, politics and most anything else world(s). I haven't even taken the time to figure out which cards from this set I really really want to collect. I do have a handful, a couple of sports (basketball, maybe hockey or football) and one of "The Royals" (Princes William and Harry). So collecting the entire set and putting into a binder/binders would take 278 nine pocket pages (277 full pages plus one 7/9 full) single sided or 139 double stuffed. WOW. ” -captkirk42

“ I thought this set was neat in concept, but the design is boring and gimmicky. UD enjoyed about 10 years of fantastic design, but by the end of their MLB license the cards were stale. I don't remember Nomah being so olive-skinned. Maybe it's the scan. ” -dilemma19

“ In case anyone thought baseball wasn't a sport, Upper Deck made this Sports card. I've never quite figured out what this set is, because we have so few scans here. Unless that changed since I last looked. ” -switzr1

“ Very meh. Maybe an action shot of the first home run. Maybe if the pic was so small relative to the card. Maybe if the logo for Upper Deck wasn't so big. This just seems to miss the mark on so many levels. ” -muskie027

“ I always thought he did better at the altar than at the plate. ” -UKboogie

Set: 1997-98 Score Board Autographed (Rate)

Card: #15 Damon Stoudamire

“ So where is the autograph? ” -rmpaq5

“ Autographed? Is this the right card? Is that a good AccuRate? Wasn't this the guy who said no team would ever win a championship with Avery Johnson as point guard, but Johnson won and Damon never did? ” -switzr1

“ Umm I don't see the autograph ! Invisible ink ? Maybe you can only see it under black light . ” -uncaian

“ No autograph and a ugly looking card, too much wasted space ” -aussiewayne

“ Having a hard time finding the signature on this "Autographed" card. Maybe it was airbrushed out along with the Raptors logo on the front of his jersey? ” -bevans

“ I like the made up AccuRate on the back. ” -carthage44

“ I saw this guy try to pick up some girls once in Portland. Hilarious. This card, equally hilarious. Another bad attempt by Score. ” -parsley24

“ I like the design although it is a bit odd. Oh this is a College Uniform set. I won't be looking for too many cards from this set. The lone Washington "Bullets" from this set is a guy named God Shammgod (odd name). And Oh I found a guy from Maryland Univ Uh-Oh more and more cards from this set might need to wander into my collection. ” -captkirk42

“ I loathe these. I'd rather have an unlicensed broder-style knockoff than a completely wiped jersey. Most if this set is a college set but they crammed some NBA players into it as well. The first autograph I ever pulled came out of one of these packs. They bought cards from other companies and had the player's sign them, and put their own embossed stamp on them. It's a shame that Classic and Scoreboard couldn't get the NBA license because the designs aren't actually bad. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ An ok card. A lot of wasted space on the right that if they expanded the picture would have made this really good. The back isn't too bad. I wonder what Accurate was supposed to be measuring. Is 140.8 good? And an obvious question, unless I am blind. Where is the autograph? ” -muskie027

“ Raptors!! Unfortunately, I can't make out what the AccuRate means. Seeing as it's Mighty Mouse, it was likely the highest on the team. ” -DanD

“ I don't like old cards ” -ZRK92

“ The not autographed card from the sets with "autographed" in the set name are always the most coveted by serious collectors. ” -UKboogie

Set: 2008 Hidden City Games Bella Sara Native Lights (Rate)

Card: #10 Huron

“ Not my thing, but I think my daughters would love this set. ” -davidhandberry

“ Somehow I feel encouraged to learn and grow, hooray! ” -Gunny

“ Now I'm confused. ” -carthage44

“ I remember throwing out a binder full of these that my daughter had. ” -UKboogie

“ This card has a nice message , but I have nothing nice say about it. ” -uncaian

“ Seriously if I showed this card to my Grade 4 class right now all the girls would go "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" ” -rmpaq5

“ I got this card once when i ordered the sweet and sour chicken at my local Chinese Food place. They must have run out of fortune cookies. At least with the knowledge that I know can encourage others to learn and grow, I became a teacher. Thank you Bella Sara for leading the way. 7GPQXJL7FZ:10 ” -parsley24

“ Interesting TCG card? Looks a bit like 1970s Hallmark zodiac and tarot type cards. Back looks like it could be for a regular playing card about horses. ” -captkirk42

“ U mmmmm.....huh? ” -Lennoxmatt

“ I have absolutely no idea what this is, but the art is aesthetically pleasing. Based on the size of the rat vs. the size of the horse, this must be set in NYC's Central Park. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Was this inspired by a Lisa Frank trapper keeper? ” -sahal694

“ Who/what is Huron in this picture? I have no idea what I'm looking at. ” -switzr1

“ This is the most peaceful card I have ever seen. It encourages me to learn and grow. ” -royals

“ oookkkkaaay ” -NJDevils

“ Huh? ” -muskie027

Set: 2012-13 O-Pee-Chee (Rate)

Card: #566 Shawn Hunwick

“ I just watched a Blue Jackets game a few minutes before this came up. And they won, too! Design is pretty cool...it looks 70s but is all new. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I really like the retro appeal of this set and a lot of the OPC hockey stuff. I'm not a huge hockey collector, but if I was I'd definitely be keen on putting this set together. ” -mkaz80

“ Awww... a Bluejacket (my NHL team) that played at Michigan (my scourge). Which fandom will win out? Frankly, I’m a bit embarrassed to say I’ve never actually heard of this guy. Looks like he isn’t playing anymore. He played one game for CBJ in 2012-2013. ” -Brimose

“ Hunwick played his cawlidge hawkey at Michigan that explains the mask design on this card. He is also the younger brother of current Penguins player Matt Hunwick. ” -Gunny

“ Too much going on here. ” -carthage44

“ Nice card front design and photo. Don't care for the backs on most of the Upper Deck-issued O-Pee-Chee sets. But, uh, three career NHL minutes played. "Marquee" Rookie indeed! ” -bevans

“ Very cool card. great graphics. But to be honest I thought this guys name at first was Marquee Rookie. Great foreign hockey player name. ” -parsley24

“ Love that Logo! Going to assume The Blue Jackets don't provide helmets and he had to use his Michigan one! ” -rmpaq5

“ Speechless. In my opinion, French is the only redeeming feature of this card. Colours, design, back, subject...I see nothing positive beyond "marquee RECRUE". Upon further reflection, I'm amused whenever I see a photo of a recently traded or promoted goalie (gardien de but) whose pads totally don't match the jersey. In this case, it looks like Hunwick is wearing his Michigan Wolverines gear. ” -dilemma19

“ Love the retro OPC cards. Wish I didn't have to call cards like this "retro". Something about 1992/3 when things started changing over to thinner card stock and white bleached cardboard over the traditional thick unbleached cardboard. ” -captkirk42

“ This is so different that I like it! Gives me the opportunity to put my three years of French to use. Let's see, recrue is a recruit. I guess that's a rookie. ” -NJDevils

“ Nice "vintage style card . One small gripe too much Marquee Rookie. ” -uncaian

“ The O-Pee-Chee cards are over the top, but I love it. The designs work and look good, and I like the cardboard throwback. ” -muskie027

Set: 2000 Upper Deck Black Diamond (Rate)

Card: #113 Steve McNair

“ Steve is confused and thinks he is on a bowling card. ” -switzr1

“ Player photo is good I think. The rest of the front is boring. Glad they point out on the back the stats are for 5 years---maybe they think we can't read! ” -KMack

“ I never realized how many cards have this look to it. McNair was good, he was always steady. Never elite or legendary, he was much better than average. I like McNair, I am not a fan of this card though. ” -muskie027

“ Air McNair, RIP! ” -carthage44

“ Never been a fan of the Black Diamoind brand, regardless of the sport. In additon to not scanning particularly well, they don't even look that impressive in-hand. ” -mkaz80

“ Love the Black Diamond brand...they don't scan very well as a general rule but the etching looks fantastic in hand. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Hopefully this looks better in person....especially the back. Could they make the number a little smaller? ” -NJDevils

“ His son seems to have grown up to become quite the young man, based on the recent ESPN special. He's a dancing machine! ” -UKboogie

“ As a kid I always liked the Black Diamond cards. As I got older, not as much. Steve McNair was fun to watch though. Taken too soon. ” -jasongerman9

“ To bad this card doesn't have an error. Then it could forever be known as the "Error" Mcnair. Best dad joke of the year award to follow. ** not a great looking card as well. quite the miss on the set. ” -parsley24

“ Nice action shot. The front is noisy, but doesn't bother me horribly, other than I would like to see the rest of the action on the field and in the sidelines/stands. The back, however, is too noisy for me and quite a distraction. ” -kents_stuff

“ Is he handing off to Eddie George? ” -RoyalChief

“ Ah, the famous fog game. Couldn't even see the other players...or..."I have an idea: let's put his name in silver print on a silver background!" ” -Vvvergeer

Set: 2006-07 Flair Showcase - Legacy Collection (Rate)

Card: #89 Brad Richards

“ I like the back on this. If someone would have told me the design, I would have said it sounds cool. Seeing it though, I am not thrilled. ” -muskie027

“ It's serial numbered so that's something. ” -carthage44

“ You never see guys wearing Nike helmets anymore. Also a rare occasion to see Easton gloves either. Never been a fan of those unis and never will be. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ Brad won the Lady Byng and the Con Smythe the same season the Lightning won the Stanley Cup. On a different note, I really like those old Lightning uniforms. ” -Gunny

“ For a few years I loved/hated/hated the Flair Showcase cards. Now I tend to love them again. I like the front pictures the foilness of the background is a bit much for me though. Backs are nice Oh this one is serial numbered a cool number 009 of 100. Oh man I do miss Fleer, and the real Donruss. ” -captkirk42

“ Awesome. I love numbered parallels and the Legacy collection was the first to introduce that concept in 1996. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ That’s how I look through the sneeze guard at a buffet. ” -sahal694

“ Fun fact...He is the Godfather to a student I recently taught. ” -rmpaq5
