Card: #NNO Jack McGeachy

“ Absolutely freakin' awesome! ” -rmpaq5

“ Authentic Vintage Baseball ” -jayoneill

“ Wow, great way to start out the new year. 1887...does not get much older than that. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Now this is one of the better RCOTD in awhile. The photo is odd, he looks like he is praying and the red around the buttons makes him look a little like some kind of shaman. What a great card though. I'd love to have it. ” -muskie027

“ Very Nice over 100 years vintage vintage. Nice cool they planned on doing portraits of all the "leading" players. Love the "save the wrappers" message. I wonder how many if any survive today? ” -captkirk42

“ Awesome!!! In mighty fine shape as well. Not sure what he is doing though. Love it! ” -tbshaw

“ No better way to ring in the New Year then with america's greatest past time. Chewing Tobacco.... ” -YoRicha

“ I'll never own one due to cost, and even this off-centered one will be coveted (And the set remains on my Want List.) ” -Sportzcommish

“ One of these days, I'll get myself something from this era. In the meantime, I'll look at the scans people have added and marvel at how cool these are! ” -vrooomed

“ wow, this has to be one of the oldest RCOTD ever, love it ” -Lennoxmatt

“ Super old and super cool. Before they played with gloves. ” -carthage44

“ A thing of pure beauty. ” -marcbrubaker

“ Beautiful vintage. Such a great looking card. ” -parsley24

“ AWESOME tobacco card! Even playing without a glove! ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ Oldest card I have is 1933 Goudey. I'd love to have a card from the 1800s at some point this year. ” -Brimose

“ Nice to see an old card on here ” -Bargunmaster

“ 1800s baseball cards are really hard to find in decent condition so I do not have a lot of them. But they still look kinda nice. ” -MLBaseball

“ WOW!!! ” -uncaian

“ Amazing card and amazing marketing for 1887 ” -NJDevils

Set: 2012 Topps Mars Attacks Heritage - Green Border (Rate)

Card: #44 Battle in the Air

“ Ok the card is neat, but why did a movie get a Heritage set 16 years after its release??? ” -rmpaq5

“ I am baffled. ” -muskie027

“ No, no, no! It's green monsters from a red planet! This should be considered an ERR. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Love the no sports cards. ” -kirkscards

“ Did they blowup his tongue? ” -carthage44

“ I don't own any Mars Attacks cards, but I have the commemorative book showcasing the original set. Easily among the best in non-sports cards in existence. ” -DanD

“ The next Terminix commercial in pre-production ” -rmitchell6700

“ OK, you fooled me. I really thought this was a 1950s era card with the artwork and design. Nice job, Topps Heritage. I really like it. ” -kents_stuff

“ This is a weird set. I'm not really a fan. ” -switzr1

“ I'm not a collector of these cards but the images are really nice on these. ” -MLBaseball

“ Nice retro/reprint set. I've thought about getting this set, but really want to get the originals. If I recall correctly this set both reprinted the original images and came up with a few dozen more. ” -captkirk42

Set: 1995 Pro Line - Grand Gainers (Rate)

Card: #G-24 Tyrone Wheatley

“ I don't know what to think of this card. The back has the NFL logo, yet it's Classic, which generally means college or knockoff, and the card is color-keyed to his college team. The text refers to college and the photos are clearly college. If it is a college card, then calling it Pro Line is quite the misnomer. If it's a rookie in a pro (NFL) set, that would explain everything. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ This actually is a nice looking card if it wasn't for the fishing net that was cast in an effort to catch Tyrone Wheatley. ” -muskie027

“ Classic tried to force it's way into the card game but they could not play with the big dogs. ” -carthage44

“ I'm glad they left the Michigan helmet in color - probably my favorite of all time! The partial grayscale doesn't work for me. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Would have been a really nice card without the netting. ” -NJDevils

“ What a classic card! Oh...just the brand name. Not sure I like the front, but maybe in person it would be better. Back is nice, though. Either way, hail to the victors, I reckon. ” -kents_stuff

“ Great-looking card, if you're into cheesecloth. ” -switzr1

“ was never a big fan of classic stuff, but i did like this set, first time i've seen this insert though ” -Thunderfoot

“ MY CARD!!! So proud! Superman! That was his nickname at Robichaud High School. He won 9 (count'm 9) state championships--7 individual track, 1 team track, 1 football. MVP of the 1993 Rose Bowl with 235 yards on the ground. Well-liked by the fans and coaches. Pro career started slowly with the Giants. Bounced around but found his way with the Raiders. Topped the 1,000 yard mark in 2000. Was around for the Raiders Super Bowl run but was a limited contributor by then. Currently a coach with the Jags. Overall, a pretty good card with an off-beat design. ” -cjjt

“ Michigan. Yuck. ” -Brimose

“ Very standard card for this era. ” -kirkscards

“ Love the design of this card. ” -MLBaseball

“ Boring, pretty much how nearly all their cards are. ” -Doc Floyd

“ Back when Michigan was good. Not a fan of most Classic Co.'s desings. This one is no exception for me. ” -parsley24

“ UGH college football cards by Classic. I like Pro-Line for the NFL but not the Classics game products. Front player's name should be larger easier to read. Team name in this case College should be mentioned, although the Michigan Wolverines are pretty easy to identify. Logo would be a bonus. Back OK for an insert card or card that is part of a sub-set which I guess this "Grand Gainers" is. ” -captkirk42

Set: 1977 TCMA Burlington Bees (Rate)

Card: #0139 Chuck Ross

“ OK card, but the photo and the graphics don't mix well in my opinion. Fun fact: my local team the Paris Lakers were the first ever champions of the Midwest League in 1956. Lakers folded after the 1959 season though, and Paris hasn't had baseball above high school level since. ” -switzr1

“ I know not to expect a lot from minor league sets, but this is too bland for my taste. ” -muskie027

“ Ahhh....Here's a real slice of Americana. Small town Minor League Baseball back before the days of color photography, capitalized state abbreviations, and other pesky inventions to modernize things. ” -kents_stuff

“ This would have been an absolutely perfect card had the player's name been Buck Boss. Alliteration-city. ” -Sportzcommish

“ WAY too cluttered on the back, but otherwise a pretty nice offering from TCMA here. ” -mkaz80

“ Sweet mascot! ” -carthage44

“ An OK 1970's minor league card. Cute team mascot logo. Plain simple back. Reminds me of old-time index cards or the library file card system from way back when. ” -captkirk42

“ Hey, not everyone can say they have a baseball card of themselves. These minor league sets are great if for only that reason. ” -SFC Temple

“ Good old MiLB card. ” -vrooomed

“ That team logo tho. In between the cleats and the stinger... man that is the bees knees. ” -parsley24

“ I love, love, love the logo on the bottom left! ” -rmpaq5

Set: 2006 Topps - Signers of the Declaration of Independence (Rate)

Card: #NNO Robert Treat Paine

“ Very cool. I'm perhaps more of a history nut than a card nut, so this is something I would collect. In fact, I think I have a couple cards from this set albeit not this one. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ No idea what this is, but I really do love it. We need more history cards. Have to admit, I love history! Would have been great if this was the July 4th RCOTD. ” -muskie027

“ Very cool card. was this an insert? Will have to search out that set. ” -parsley24

“ Is it talent or the system? When hooked up with veterans like Franklin (1887 RC) and Jefferson (1880 RC) you wonder if Paine would have had as much success without them. ” -Sportzcommish

“ No, ma! I'm not sorting cards, I'm learning history. ” -dilemma19

“ These are great for history classes. ” -carthage44

“ Can't complain about something this American. ” -DarkSide830

“ Just had one of these as RCOTD, right? Maybe a little less randomness would be good. ” -kents_stuff

“ Nice historical set. Shame it was an insert set to a baseball set gets lost into where/when it was produced. Pretty neat that the back puzzle pieces make up the Declaration of Independence. But there are easier ways to get a copy of the document. ” -captkirk42

“ Nice card, though they all look alike other than the bottom, which is unfortunate. I need to visit his grave in Boston. DOI Signers is one of the categories I am pursuing in my travels. ” -switzr1

“ One of my favorite insert sets of all time!!! However, how did it find its way into a baseball card set? ” -jayoneill

“ Well..I am on a family road trip and here in Philadelphia, and just visited the Historical District today! Neat personal coincidence! ” -rmpaq5

“ I just learned about the revolutionary war this year in class ” -Bargunmaster

Set: 1996 SPx - Bound for Glory (Rate)

Card: #4 Cal Ripken Jr.

“ I used to be a big fan of die-cut cards as well as holograms. Now, not so much. ” -trauty

“ I didn't used to like these, because of the shape. But now, I don't mind it. Holograms are fine because they don't overdo them anymore. But I sure got tired of seeing so many of them back in the day. And you can't complain about Cal Ripken. ” -switzr1

“ Love the early SPx sets... holograms are always great. A scan can't truly capture these. This is a good scan, it's just impossible to accurately capture the multiple, moving photo aspect. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Tough card to scan, but I think it turned really well. ” -olerud363

“ This train was bound for glory..... this train. I cannot tell you how much i dislike the hologram prizm effect on cards. (*edit unless it is early 90s comic ball with jordan) again. When will the companies look at quality over quantity in their parallels. ” -parsley24

“ I like this card. A whole set like this is too much, but a die-cut holographic insert is okay by me. ” -dilemma19

“ Oh how I miss TRUE hologram cards. ” -carthage44

“ Too much white border . ” -kents_stuff

“ Absolutely worst looking card ever ” -Earl Avery

“ Hologram technology has progressed enough to make some cards really attractive. The design then is critical toward that end, and the cinema border doesn't help in this case. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Cool card. ” -cjjt

“ Has a really cool look to it. I am guessing it is an insert. Lov0e the blue looking hologram. If it is a hologram. Thumbs up! ” -muskie027

“ Hey an early hologram that scanned pretty good. Hmm 1996 I think I was already into my semi-hiatus from the hobby mostly because of this type of card. Major die-cut and overproduction of holograms. OH My I almost didn't notice it was Cal Ripken Jr. ” -captkirk42

“ My favorite baseball player of all time! Card is cool, but unusual. But I like it better than sportflics! ” -Joshua825

“ i do not like how hologram cal ripken looks at me ” -Bargunmaster

Set: 1991 Winner's Choice New England (Rate)

Card: #12 Dave Dion

“ I'll assume this is a race car driver. Card looks fine, if that's what you're into. ” -switzr1

“ New England legend. The first set made for NASCAR's Northeast series, although the photo is from the unaffiliated American-Canadian Tour. I have been looking for this set for years, with no luck. It was factory set only, I think. Hopefully someday I will find it. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Interesting early 90s design. Nice use of checkered flag motif, but perhaps too much black surround on both front and back. Nice photo, and some diverse information on the back. I'm not a racing guy, but it's not a bad card. ” -kents_stuff

“ One would think you get a free loaf of bread with this card. ” -parsley24

“ Funny, I haven't looked at the 'Write One' link in weeks, maybe even months, and today I felt the urge to click on it, only to see one of my own scans! (Twilight Zone theme playing in the background...LOL!) Anyway, I really like the Winner's Choice products. Even major league racing cards had only been around for a few years at this point, and Winner's Choice was pretty close to its contemporaries on quality and design, in my opinion. It helps that this set was about local drivers here in the Northeast. I'd say that the biggest detraction from this set is the lack of quality photography of the subjects, but I think that is the nature of the subject matter as much as the budget of the production company. Dave Dion was a fixture on the NASCAR Busch North tour for many years, although this photograph shows him in a uniform bearing the logo of the short lived American-Canadian Tour. ” -Lea DeFoote

“ Not a racing fan, so I don't know this guy, but I generally prefer cards that show the players performing, not posing. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Should have been sponsored by the restaurant Checkers. ” -carthage44

“ No idea who this is or what set this is, but at least it's from a time when racing was racing! ” -beansballcardblog

“ A Racing card how nice. Seems a bit bare on the backside No car photo. If I were a racing card collector this would be like something I'd expect from cards from a food product. Bare bones basic. ” -captkirk42

“ Kind of what I would imagine a driver card to look like. ” -muskie027

Set: 1996 Stadium Club - Match Proofs (Rate)

Card: #NNO Dwayne Harper

“ Match what? Nice card front. Stadium Club really began to hit it's stride that time period. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Didn't I write about a mid-90s Stadium Club card yesterday? Ok design. I miss the San Diego Chargers. ” -switzr1

“ Harper: You mean you'll use the same picture as the base set, but on this one there won't be any stats or other player information? (Former) TSC Creative Director: Yes, but we made only 100 of these. Harper: But no autograph, or SN, or stats, or player information? (Former) TSC Creative Director: Look, just throw the ball back to me. We've got your card's picture. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Nice, large photo; but tought to read the name at the bottom with the multiple font and layout. ” -kents_stuff

“ Proof's before they were cool. ” -carthage44

“ This was a design that I never cared for. Even in-hand, it wwas tough to read the player names. ” -beansballcardblog

“ never seen this parallel version of the set ” -Thunderfoot

“ OK I"m at a loss since I wasn't doing football in the mid 90s. OK where is the card number? Back says 1 of 100 meaning only 100 "proofs" title says it is card 182. Guess I'm still lost on this one. ” -captkirk42

Set: 1993-94 Stadium Club - Members Only (Rate)

Card: #266 Anfernee Hardaway

“ To this day I still wonder why I never joined the official Topps Members club. Card front having the team logo totally obscured by the basketball makes it look like a bootleg/knockoff like Classic did, but this is a legit NBA set. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ This would be way more cool if Penny had worn an actual Members Only jacket for his photo. ” -switzr1

“ Ugh, the insistence on lower casing the first letter in someone's name. A 90's travesty. Penny was good for a spurt, then faded. Not a bad card, but not great. ” -muskie027

“ This set produced what I believe to be perfection in a trading card - but not Penny's. It's #89 Hakeem Olajuwon as described in my list, "The Absolutely Perfect Cards". Check it out! ” -Sportzcommish

“ Member of what? I generally like Stadium Club sets. However they added weird stuff to the cards or used weird colors. Like this card and the "Saved by the Bell" colors and design scheme of the back. I think Stadium Club has always tried to hard to be cool. But this is not a bad card. ” -cnangle

“ The gold foil made it hard to read. ” -carthage44

“ I know user lfbBirdsCards has a User List of "My $0.01 Cards" or something like that. Would this one qualify? ” -kents_stuff

“ I could not care less about basketball, but I loved it during this era. No idea what the Magis uniforms look like, but they need to go back to these. Classics! ” -beansballcardblog

“ Not a good design for Stadium Club. ” -captkirk42

“ i rarely would say this.... ut could use a bit more graphic. And the font on the name is terrible. ” -parsley24

Set: 2007-08 Upper Deck Be a Player (Rate)

Card: #145 Mike Knuble

“ Nice to see another hockey card come up. I have to admit most of my 2017 was spent on the NHL. I only have a card or two from this set, yet. Not a huge fan of sets where the background and in this case even some of the foreground has been removed and replaced by graphics, but in this early stage of my collecting the sport, I'm happy to be able to read the back of any of them I see in an effort to learn as much as possible. His name and the team name should have been capitalized also. Grammar matters. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ OK at best. The Be a Player logo should have been a Flyer logo, that would have made it so much better. I also hate the lower case first letter on the names. Overall, it isn't bad, it could have been great. ” -muskie027

“ I don't know what the weird water color thing going on is, but I kind of like it. The uniform number in the upper left really seems out of place though. ” -switzr1

“ Graphic-itis kills the front. Same-pic-noma undoes the back. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Be a Player? These must have been only Hockey releases because I have not seen these sets in Baseball or Football. ” -carthage44

“ Weird graphics. This one is a hard pass for me. The trademark circle after the flyers name really just adds to the horribleness of this card. Plus its hockey. ” -parsley24

“ Good ol’ Mike Knuble. Liked him better as a Capital. As for the card, not very good at all as it looks like it got caught in the color machine too many times. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ Haven't seen one of these, not being much into the hockey cards. But looks like an Upper Deck to me. ” -kents_stuff

“ Not a bad card. Something different and colorful. ” -NJDevils

“ Lot of dead space here. Same picture front and back. ” -cjjt

“ This set would be better without the watercolor type backgrounds. ” -captkirk42
